One-Hearted (相思)

紅豆生南國

In early spring, I took my family back to my hometown, Xi’an.

During the trip we visited the Soul of Poetry (詩魂) inside the Hibiscus Garden of Tang Dynasty. Thousands of poets were carved on the rocks, and I was amazed by the perfect mix of nature textures of the rocks and the Chinese calligraphy.

My favorite part is a poem carved in blue ink, One-Hearted (相思), which was originally written by Wang Wei (王維).

When red berries are flourishing,
on the spring branches at southland.
Please take home an armful,
just for my sake,
as a symbol of our love.
