Welcome to my blog!
What were the reasons for me to start this blog?
One of them was that I have a strong passion in writing since my childhood, instead of studying literature to become a writer, I followed my parents’ footstep to become an engineer. But my old love has never faded away, on contrary, it is actually getting stronger with my experience getting richer.
So here I built my blog to fulfill my passion also to overcome challenges – writing stories in English (my second language) as well as in Chinese (my native language).
My ongoing writing spectrum can be broad, including anything from my career or daily life which can catch my eyes, touch my heart, offer me inspiration, strike my imagination, satisfy my fascination.
It originally took me a while to figure out a name for my blog, “From Hiding to Blogging“, which actually represented a “milestone” in my life – to break isolated personal space and to connect with the world! I also selected a tagline for my blog, “My Essays for the Essences in Life“, which actually implied any topics I would write in my blog.
After blogging for a year and a half, I have made a significant progress in writing and connecting with WorldPress community. In other words, I don’t feel scared or worried anymore while sharing my points of view in many topics through writings and photographing.
Thus I have arrived at the point to take my blog one step forward. Lately I have been gradually switching my focus from writing to writing with photos, i.e., photoessay, simply because one photos is equal to one thousand words.
So as said, I will continuously share the essences of my life with my readers, not through the fingers on keyboard but also through the lens of my camera.
Stay tuned!
I’m so glad you are following your passion! You will definitely get your writing “fix” by having a blog. Good luck!

I had a similar title problem. The I decided to call it “Luthers Journal”. It’s not that specific but it allowes to write about what ever I like.
BTW What means the chinese text in the background? It looks brillant.

Hi, Marius: the Chinese on my background is just calligraphy, not special meaning.
Thanks,
Yan

Hi Yan,
I admire you on breaking from your isolated space and going public without fear. I am following you as well.
I have done something similar…breaking away from my private personal space with my music and now sharing it without fear. When it comes from the heart it cannot fail!
Best Regards,
Steve Zee

I liked th photo of introducing. However, I’d prefer your last paragraph to be the first. I would love to read about the author first. Who you are is more important than what you do and why you do things. This is my personal opinion of course 🙂
A name meaning swallow is interesting. I would love to hear why this meaning is used as a name in Chinese. Weird but fun fact, it caught my attention.

Yan (燕, swallow) is a fairly common name for girls in China. But I don’t know the reason. 🙂

This is a good subject to write 🙂
having a name meaning swallow. I am curious about it. Maybe the sound of it makes it popular not the meaning. Maybe in old times, it meant something more.
It is a nice way to start a blog post. Interesting and catchy

Just a question and I guess this is the right spot for it. Where is the lighthouse located that appears in your blog header? I have always been fascinated by lighthouses and this one looks vaguely familiar. Thanks Yan…

Your blog’s design is lovely.
I find the name very related too, as I had similar feelings when considering to start a blog. I felt nervous about sharing topics, but I really wanted to write. When I finally did make my blog, I abandoned it for a whole year before posting.
To see someone else who had once hid create such a wonderful atmosphere is inspiring, and I wish us both luck with our future endeavors!

I’m so glad I found your blog. I will look forward to your future posts, and will try to take some time to visit some of your past ones, too.
I have been to Xi An a long time ago, back in 1989. I went to China for a study tour after studying two years of Mandarin Chinese in high school. I then continued my studies at university and briefly lived in Taiwan.
I can relate to the name of your blog “From Hiding to Blogging”. Though I assume we had different reasons for hiding it seems that we have both found some freedom in writing here. That’s wonderful!
