I didn’t expect to find anything new from the trip to Las Vegas over last weekend, simply because I had been there several times. Beyond noisy and lively casinos, the best oriental restaurants I could find in this country, nothing else I was planning to visit.
As before I had never completed any trips without some beautiful surprises. This time was Red Rock Canyon which wasn’t too far from the city but I didn’t notice before.
The Canyon lies in Nevada’s Mojave Desert. It’s known for geological features such as towering red sandstone peaks and the Keystone Thrust Fault, as well as Native American petroglyphs. Panoramic viewing spots dot the 13-mile Scenic Drive.
The distinct features as colorful layers in those rocks set the Canyon apart from any other mountains and hills surrounding Las Vegas. I will visit it again next time in hope to find more surprises.
