At Minnesota spring usually comes later than other states. Once a while we had a major snow storm even in the middle of April. Even though temperature is rising and a few flowers’ buds are popping, we are not totally into green season.
But we already smell the freshness coming in spring air!
So do great blue herons along Mississippi River!
Many of them started building their nest at Rookery.

One of the couple is flying back and fourth carrying one piece of tree branch each time, then he / she gives the branch to another who put on the top of the piles. The nest is huge and high-up on tall trees. The herons have to work all day long to complete the building processes.

With the company of their loved ones, hardworking might turns to something quite enjoyable.
Do you think so?
Love these shots. There was a rookery not far from where we lived in Illinois and what an experience to go there!
