Portraits of Mallards

It is early winter 2020, and we are in the middle of second lockdown!

This means no group outing, no parties, even no photo trips with those fellow photographers. But life is still going on and we need to find something fun ALONE!

Suddenly I missed those mallards and other water birds, and decided to bring some foods to them.

I carried a bag of corns and drove to a local lake where I used to get together with friends watching swans, ducks and other water birds wandering around. I was on the same lake for so many time that those birds must have already memorized me, since they walked towards me soon after they saw me parked my car. I threw the corns to them and capture their close portraits while they were enjoying the unexpected snacks.

It was the first time I got such a close look at the ducks. The green heads of male ducks are smooth and shinning as velvet.

Don’t you think their bodies turned rounder than usual?

I guess they have been storing energy for upcoming cold weather.

Thanks for visiting my post!
