Lake Kawaguchi (河口湖) is located in the border Fujikawaguchiko and Minobu, southern Yamanashi Prefecture near Mount Fuji, Japan. It is the second largest of the Fuji Five Lakes in terms of surface area, and is located at the lowest elevation.
Our trip to the lake was scheduled before I arrived at Tokyo. We were very excited on our plan to see Mount Fuji from the lake. Unfortunately it started raining when we got to the lake. Even though the lakeshore showed its unique beauty under a rainy cloudy sky, we realized that our hope to see Mount Fuji up close had faded.
We also visited a grape garden, hiding in raincoat we filled our stomaches with delicious grapes.
Near the end of the trip we arrived the place where we could oversee the lake, would have seen Mount Fuji without heavy clouds. The tour guide pointed out the direction where Mount Fuji supposed to show up, based on the information I borrowed a picture of Mount Fuji taken from previous trip (A Pirate Ship at Lake Ashi) and photoshopped onto the landscape of Lake Kawaguchi.
Can you find Mount Fuji in the following photo?
Finally I fulfilled my dream of Mount Fuji!
On our way back to home, rain stopped and a set of double rainbows emerged in the sky. We took off raincoat and cheered on such a unexpected gift.
We didn’t see Mount Fuji but double rainbow was just as great!
Thank you for visiting my post!
