The Gods of Day and Night

Walking around neighborhood on Saturday morning, I noticed there is a newly carved wood column standing in front of a nearby house.  Interestingly one side of the wood is carved with a sleeping moon and stars, together with a god with the tongue sticking out.

Another side, however, is cared with a smiley Sun face and another kind of god with a grumpy face.

My husband and I were not sure why such a colorful wood column stands there, since it is hard to mix with its surroundings.  Maybe the owner of the house wants blessings from the Moon and the Sun, on day and night.

This week’s photo challenge topic – Transmogrify, inspired me to snap a few photos of the art of the mixed gods and share with my readers.
