You are a shy Asian, sitting quietly,
your face was wrapped inside a dupatta;
only your deep and beautiful eyes left out,
looking around with fears and doubts.
Amazed by your distinct features,
I stop by and sit in front of you;
from your broken English I can tell,
you are a newcomer here.
Tears was rolling out of your eyes,
you say you were homesick;
I see the reflection of my old self,
struggling desperately to fit in.
Holding your hands,
I say you are smart and strong;
now you have gotten a friend,
who is willing to help you stand tall.
The cloud is fading away from your eyes,
You pull the scarf down your face;
Here I am seeing a stunning smile,
blooming out toward the world!
